Re: Fuel - on board network connector failed

If the onboard network is toast, you could use this as an excuse to put a Gigabit Ethernet card in the Fuel. I upgraded my own Fuel this way last year and don't use the onboard Ethernet any more.

I was there in Teesside some years ...

Re: Your first SGI encounter

Teesside University in the UK. My dad had taken on a job as assistant technical manager of their virtual reality centre and when I was on school holidays around 1996/1997 or so, he took me in one day to see the place (I would have been around 13 years old). A year or so later I spent a week there on...

Re: how things should be shipped properly

Yeah, you're always limited. My company ships a lot of stuff around Europe. Most arrives fine, but we've had a 24" monitor who's box was clearly pierced by something long and sharp, and a pallet that somehow ended up being partially crushed from one side (amazingly only one docking station, key...

Re: Monitor suggestions for high-DPI experiment

Mucho drool factor there... Good to see Viewsonic back in the game, they made some razor sharp CRT's ~Y2K. Their subsequent flatpanel displays were pretty shoddy and quite efficient at brand destruction. I've been in the market for a new display o.0. What are the mounting options? Is it made by Vie...

Nice little system, you don't see too many of the 175MHz R10ks in Indigo2s.

Re: your latest purchase

Yeah, dogs are awesome! My family had a border collie until a few years ago and I've always wanted my own dog at some point. When we were in a rented house with a carpeted hallway, plus we both worked full time out the house, it was out the question. However now, we've bought a house with lots of wo...

Re: Indigo 2 Solid Impact HD problem

Sounds like either there's an issue with the internal terminator, or you might have somehow set the drive to the same ID as the controller or something like that. Make sure the SCSI ID connector on the drive sled is connected to the drive - this should set the ID automatically.

Re: your latest purchase

A puppy!

She's a Borador (Border Collie / Labrador cross), and we collect her from the farm next weekend. So looking forward to having a little companion in my man cave whilst I'm working :)
