I just logged back in for the first time in a while and am surprised to see this thread still going. I was quite upset when i had started this thread, as i had just bought some expensive sgi equipment that was not working properly.I have since gotten things into a partially working condition and hav...

Re: Maintaining Hardware / fesability of keeping hardware running

I actually picked up a wafer inspection microscope at intersil the other day... Anyone got some horribly broken boards for the cost of shipping?

Re: Looking for utility to Test lots of hard drives

I am contemplating purchasing a couple of the rack-mount fiber channel arrays that came in at the scrapyard, however, I would like to test the drives first so i can pay accordingly to how many drives are actually working. They are all loaded with 450GB drives. On linux the badblocks utility seems li...

Re: non SGI related, tons of blade servers and cisco gear

Fibre channel arrays too. Not sure if i can get them to work with sgi equipment. I do not know what the connector on the back is or if it can be adapted to connect to my sgi onyx or octane. Last picture shows the connector. Looks like HSSDC2. Can that be used with a octane or a onyx with a fibre ch...

Re: WTB: Powerbook G4, 12in / 1.5GHz

Re: Maintaining Hardware / fesability of keeping hardware running

I have to say, i have been working om my pdp 11/34 over the weekend, and the documentation is excellent. I have a full print set. everything. every circuit in the machine is laid out and documented.I was able to disassemble and manually repair the power supply. The manuals go a long way when trying ...

non SGI related, tons of blade servers and cisco gear

Not sgi related, but i figured I would list some of this stuff here because it is quite new, compared to a lot of the older equipment I am used to working with. I am still cataloging it all, if you see anything of potential interest tell me and i can get some more info and pictures. At the scrapyard...

sgi shutter shades?

I have two pairs of shutter shades that I have not done anything with. I am not familiar with any of the present 3d video distribution formats. Blu ray disks seem to be how they are distributed. I dont see any mention of dvd. I am not sure if my hardware would even be able to play blu ray quality vi...

Re: Indigo 2 Hardware Dilemma!!! :(

Seller probally does not want bad feedback or to pay return shipping, id say try to keep it if you can get it at a bargin price or free. If you send it back its probally going to be thrown out and the memory and sleds are still worth something. Id be more than happy to send you a spare drive for the...
