sgi shutter shades?

I have two pairs of shutter shades that I have not done anything with. I am not familiar with any of the present 3d video distribution formats. Blu ray disks seem to be how they are distributed. I dont see any mention of dvd. I am not sure if my hardware would even be able to play blu ray quality vi...

sgi vr hardware reccomendations

Kinda surpising that with all the sgi hardware i have on hand,I have not yet tried anything concerning vr yet. Looking through google images, I see there were a ton of industrial looking head mounted display options. I am looking for a suggestion for the best head mounted display for use with sgi ha...

Re: Indigo 2 Hardware Dilemma!!! :(

Seller probally does not want bad feedback or to pay return shipping, id say try to keep it if you can get it at a bargin price or free. If you send it back its probally going to be thrown out and the memory and sleds are still worth something. Id be more than happy to send you a spare drive for the...

That sounds interesting, I already have a good chunk of what is on the main ftp here locally it would not take much more downloading to get the whole thing. How would i go about mirroring the forum and articles?

status:Gone off the deep end and started co locating sgi gear around town

Been a while since i posted here, been quite busy. Figured i would post about my most recent project with sgi gear. I have been in the process of setting up my sgi onyx and origin servers between my two jobs. One is installed at the scrapyard, the other, at the arcade. I think the best part is that ...

Re: WTB: Powerbook G4, 12in / 1.5GHz

I have a working one that is dinged and scratched and beat to hell, but is otherwise fully functional aside from cosmetic issues. If that would be of potential interest to you, let me know. There were a bunch of them dropped off at my scrapyard job from a local church, they were using them till rece...

Re: Maintaining Hardware / fesability of keeping hardware running

I took a bit of a vacation and have a bit of a clearer head now. Ditched my old crummy job, it gave me lots of free time to troubleshoot the problems i was having and get things back on track. I thank everyone here for the advice. I was having a real bad day with both my onyx machines developing iss...

Re: Onyx 10000 deskside keyboard issues

it was indeed that front "IO4 filter secondary" board. upon swapping it out the keyboard works once again.

This is actually a pretty good looking place for something to break, looks simple enough that with volt meter it can be troubleshooted and repaired.

Re: Onyx 10000 deskside keyboard issues

Alright. Some progress. I pulled the memory board out of the onyx terminator rack and put it in the deskside. No more memory errors at bootup. over 1500MB of memory compared to 256mb with the other board. a big improvement. I also pulled out the io4 controller from the terminator rack and installed ...

Re: Onyx 10000 deskside

I did not have any luck with it. I should be free to try again in a day or so. I had both the ac lights light up green, but the power good lights never lit up, i am unsure if that is normal operation. no fans spinning up or any kind of indication of power up. Its an ordeal to get it moved, and the o...

Maintaining Hardware / fesability of keeping hardware running

Sgi hardware has been a big thing for me. I learned about the hardware while it was still in its prime and i was still in school, and decided i really wanted to get some of the gear that was top notch at the time. I can't even begin to gauge how much time has been spent working on or thinking about ...
