"The sharks" in this context have entered the vernacular in my family thanks to this comic.

Re: Intel backdoor: not a bug, a feature (buy a new processor!!!)

Re: Have any one seen any good anime lately?

I'm going to have to try Martian Successor Nadesico again, managed to stumble through the first disc then jumped onto something else. It's definitely worth sticking through to the end; it doesn't really get a proper ending so much as kick the can down the road for a movie series that ended prematur...

Re: Cryptocurrency?

You cannot draw more energy from a system than you put into that system. People (those who got in early) are only making money out of Bitcoin because others are buying into it. "Profits" are only being made by the few, because further down the line many others will loose. (there is finite...

I mean, at least with the tulip boom you could still grow some nice flowers after the bubble burst.

Re: Cryptocurrency?

It's all bottle-caps when you get right down to it. If somebody wants to play around and win some scratch while the bubble is still bubbling, well, more power to 'em, but I don't want to hear anybody wailing when it inevitably bursts.

Re: Have any one seen any good anime lately?

Currently been powering through Martian Successor Nadesico and Log Horizon. The former being so tonally all-over-the-map that it approaches being the Excel Saga of space/mecha anime, but with an actual worthwhile plot, and the latter being the best approach I've personally seen to the "MMORPG p...

Re: The Problem with Apple

MacOS back in the original era was something interesting - not without its flaws (*cough*multitasking*cough*memoryprotection*cough*) but it brought its own set of unique(-ish) ideas to the table and offered what was at the time one of the most consistent user experiences available in an OS. OSX, on ...
