Re: your latest purchase

Picked up a couple fun bits of wood and string recently: teleclone_275.jpg This is a Telecaster clone from SX Guitars, who make shockingly good instruments for the bargain-basement price (okay, their electronics are generic and mediocre, but everyone replaces those anyway.) I picked it up because I ...

Re: Things that make your blood boil

The whole high-res audio one annoys me too in general. Especially as the resolution of the audio makes little difference as long as music continues to be brickwalled and dynamically compressed to shit during the mastering process. High-resolution shit is still shit... Yeah, no kidding. At least it'...

Ah, Laserdisc. Now you just need the unadulterated Star Wars trilogy...

Re: Intel backdoor: not a bug, a feature (buy a new processor!!!)

This was down to the IME or I'll eat my hat. Start eating, it has something to do with speculative execution from userspace resulting in leaking information from more privileged protection rings and/or defeating KASLR : https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/02/intel_cpu_design_flaw/ Good thing I do...

Re: Have any one seen any good anime lately?

I'm going to have to try Martian Successor Nadesico again, managed to stumble through the first disc then jumped onto something else. It's definitely worth sticking through to the end; it doesn't really get a proper ending so much as kick the can down the road for a movie series that ended prematur...

Re: Cryptocurrency?

It's all bottle-caps when you get right down to it. If somebody wants to play around and win some scratch while the bubble is still bubbling, well, more power to 'em, but I don't want to hear anybody wailing when it inevitably bursts.
