Re: [Not Mine][eBay] IBM ThinkPad Power Series

What I think? What I can actually do with my money, instead of buying those futile computer vintage stuff. I feel like this is kind of a weird argument considering topic of the forum we're both posting on. The practical uses of an SGI computer grow vanishingly small as time passes, but that isn't g...

[Not Mine][eBay] IBM ThinkPad Power Series

I just found a pair of ThinkPad Power Series (PowerPC) laptops on eBay, and thought you folks might be interested. Someone has posted: an 820 http://www.ebay.com/itm/253074400317 and an 850 http://www.ebay.com/itm/253074397542 I've been watching for these models to come up forever, but $1,000 starti...

My C3700 was about 65lbs shipped, so they're pretty heavy.

Re: Rising NeXTStation prices

Here you look as annoying as the petulant dude of this forum who only writes me PM repeating two thousand times in the same period on HOW GOOD he was in finding a MaxImpact gfx for less than 25 USD whereas e.g. Ian sells it at 900 euro. That's not the best comparison, TBH. Places like Ian's and Mas...

You'd likely be better off posting at https://assemblergames.com/ if you haven't already. They specialize in this kind of stuff.

I'm no longer looking for this. Escimo and I worked out a trade.

Thanks everybody!

WTB: IBM RS/6000 7011 RAM

Hello, I'm looking to buy RAM for an IBM RS/6000 7011-250. It's my understanding that it can take a maximum of 256MB of RAM across 8 sticks. I'm looking for a full 256MB (8x 32MB), but am willing to buy smaller amounts (say 4x 32MB). I believe that the 7011-250 can take either the original part (P/N...

Wait, how can they block it? Isn't everything on that site just binary builds of opensource software?

Re: Putting the C8000 to good use?

The best resource for AIX freeware is http://www.perzl.org/aix/#availpkgs Sadly I'm stuck with 4.3.3 at the moment, so my only option is Bull's freeware site. Actually this http://hpux.connect.org.uk was ruined once a new guy took over handling it. First he changed the interface.. so while before w...

Re: Forum with Netscape 3 ?

There is also a third option: You could try Tenox's web rendering proxy. It converts web pages to clickable image maps. Should work on most browsers. Though when I tried it on Netscape 1.0, I couldn't get any of the links to work (that might just be Netscape 1.0 though). You can find it here: https:...

Re: Installing SunOS 4.1.4

In that case, perhaps I will change the SCSI ID to 3. It does seem to work fine if I just do a

Code: Select all

boot disk0
though. Maybe I'll just leave it that way for now.

I got everything going, BTW.

Re: Installing SunOS 4.1.4

So, I got a Sun CD-ROM, and spent the night getting SunOS installed. It's not the most user-friendly operating system in the world, but that's to be expected due to its age. I'm using a SCSI2SD card instead of a hard drive, and my first mistake was to set it to a 4GB "drive" size. As SunOS...

Re: Installing SunOS 4.1.4

Yeah, I realized that later. Learn something new every day, I guess. I'll be honest, it was a burned CD from an ISO. At first I thought the drive just couldn't read the CD-R, but it turns out it doesn't support 512 byte block mode. I, incorrectly, assumed it would since I was under the impression th...

Re: Installing SunOS 4.1.4

Thanks for the help. Turns out my install media is actually f'd. I can't mount the CD on my Linux machine either, so it's likely bad. I guess I'll have to settle for Solaris.
