Re: Installing IRIX

My suggestion is to do a network install. Network install (and other types of install) are mentioned on http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/Modern_IRIX

Hope it helps.

Re: Looking for O2 R5000

I am looking to acquire an O2 with an R5k at 180MHz, preferably. I just happened to see a couple 5ks on ebay (not mine): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sgi-O2-Computer-B014ant300-300mhz-R5000-/232622423172?rmvSB=true https://www.ebay.com/itm/SGI-O2-Silicon-Graphics-O2-192MB-ram-CMNB014ANT200-200Mhz-R5000...

Re: Icons for Irix

I need this info right now. So, reviving dead thread. Which info exactly? :) But, question. Did the link, one page back, at one time have info in it? :?: If you are in search of those and other icons, mentions of them and download locations are in: http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/Modern_IRIX (L...

Regular PS2 mouse/keyboards can be adapted?

As long as you have a generic PS/2 mouse and keyboard, you'll be fine.

Once you get the machine, you could see http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/Modern_IRIX .

Re: Installing Firefox on Octane. Lots of dependencies.

You're gonna need to run X display with 24bpp for best results. To see how it's done, check out http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/Use_Custom_Background_on_Irix and search for "depth" in that page. Also, for a collection of info about running Irix in as "modern" context as it gets, you...

Re: Installing Firefox on Octane. Lots of dependencies.

Hey Intuition, based on "Not Found" it seems to me that some files mentioned in "descript.ion" file (which contains a list of packages) are not available on the mirror. Without going into too much trouble, a good way to solve this would be to identify which files are reported as ...

Re: Installing Firefox on Octane. Lots of dependencies.

Ok, the script began working but only up to the install part. I think I may have to tell it to use a specific ftp because it seems like it never begins downloading anything. Are you getting a problem on the --bootstrap part, or later when installing packages? I just ran the script and it works OK w...

Re: Installing Firefox on Octane. Lots of dependencies.

I have yet to make nekodeps work for me. I follow the instructions in the ## comments but it never achieves anything. You need to choose some directory, like /root/nekodeps/, and download the script into it. Then you run the script with the following options to initialize the subdirectories, instal...

Re: Installing Firefox on Octane. Lots of dependencies.

Hey,
There are multiple ways to download and install nekoware packages including dependencies, but one I use is "nekodeps.pl" -- the description and download is here:

Re: I like workstations dedicated to only one purpose ...

I bought this screen in 2008 (Sony-branded) for 400 EUR used, but it was without a single blemish, like new. Used it for a couple years until a tiny little spot of dirt got stuck on the screen, and my cleaning it damaged some protective film that was apparently on the surface. Still have that CRT ly...

Re: ADAT. And the secret is...

Hey, I got it working. I knew I needed to convert ADAT to S/PDIF before I can input that into a receiver, so I first bought Midiman SAM. Then I realized that SAM wouldn't work for me because (if I recall correctly) it was capable of conversion, but if input was on optical, output was forced to be on...
