Re: what is a startup

It was supposed to be a business that explores a new way of creating revenue. Then it became 90s. By the time I started Ekunia as a teenager (still unprofitable but then again I only worked weekends and promised to never actually pay anyone whenever they wanted to be my employee), it was a thing whe...

I miss the Colbert Report. The recap episode before Colbert took his spot was alright.

Re: About that Jurassic World thing...

It was okay. I expected worse, so it was decent.

The actual connection to the original Jurassic canon (InGen itself) was very contrived; that's the biggest thing that bothered me. It was so contrived I was wondering if InGen was just included as some company's name as a nod to the original.

Re: OpenSSL

One thing's for sure, the LibreSSL guys didn't think too highly of the state of the OpenSSL code when they forked it. they should've kept the build system tho. libressl comes with a bunch of crap such as hardcoded, gcc specific cflags and such Well that's retarded. But apparently not as retarded as...

Re: Cool (open source) software you would like to see ported...

Well, the reason I said it wouldn't work out is exactly because it's alive. If they update their protocol like an ordinary messenger, it will gradually break the IRIX version, since we'll be too short-staffed to maintain it.

Re: Cool (open source) software you would like to see ported

I would really love to see: A newer webbrowser than Firefox 3. Maybe something webkit-based? Also a newer office suite than OpenOffice 1 would be great. What about Libreoffice? Another really great thing to port would be the Telegram messenger (Source Code available here: https://github.com/telegra...

Re: Post-Soviet computing?

Since my brief skim of this topic hasn't noticed any mentions of this: Russia is now going to restart domestic production of computer hardware in the consumer area, officially. Given my insane obsession with Russia, I also know that Obama had already sanctioned most/all of the involved companies in ...

Re: Forum Platform Recommendations

MyBB is pretty awful and why? You cannot comprehend how until half your forum breaks from a security update and you have to manually fix things like the navigation bar because they removed it for a bug in the software upgrade. Also, the post box has broken, etc. Also compatibility across browsers c...

Re: Forum Platform Recommendations

MyBB is pretty awful, speaking as a person who is going to leave it next month for my own forum. I'd advise you stay on phpBB, although xenForo is pretty good if you want paid software. Full disclosure: I'm starting a free forum host with a custom software. I'd recommend that, but it's ad-funded and...

Re: are the fascists running the US insane ?

A popular belief in Russia is that the Bolsheviks were aided by the US because they struck a deal to protect interests in Russia. In other words, many people from Russia believe that the USA is to blame for the Soviet era, as they made a pact to not aid the White Movement in exchange for the securit...

Re: Bitcoin miner finally arrived

If you mine solo, and hit it big, you'll get a ton of cash, but it takes a whole lot of luck.

BTC miners usually work in groups now.

I believe that any CEO that has bad grammar should be fired and then sued by the corporation of employment for fraud.
