Re: What SUN hardware do we have?

Hi, Just scored a Sparcstation 5 with two OS's; disk0 - Solaris 8 and disk1 - NeXTSTEP 3.3. Disk 0 is set as the default boot disk but I can boot to NeXTSTEP by typing boot disk1 at the ok prompt. NVRAM battery is dead and I have to set the NVRAM values at the ok prompt before booting if I want to h...

Re: amiga 1500

Amigas were great machines. I used a Video-Toaster equipped Amiga in college - very advanced for its time.
I can't buy it because shipping to Texas would be a killer, but I'd still like to know what you are asking for it.

Re: Background twiddling

Recently I felt a unified background for my two-monitor desk setup (one sgi, one windows mounted on a newstar desk mount) might be nice, and have under the last couple of weeks been twiddling around in Maya. Perhaps someone here would be interested: http://duck.at.shangtai.net/files/unified-bg/ If ...

SGI Fuel L1 usb port question

Hello, all. I'm trying to salvage a non-booting 500/600MHz fuel for a young/kid sgi-enthusiast. I don't know why this fuel's motherboard is missing the L1 serial db9 connector just below the second heatsink, but it's just not there. I figure seeing the L1's diagnostic messages would be helpful. Is t...

Re: Life beyond SGI...

Seeing all those DVDs reminds me that I was stopped a few discs into my boxed set of Danger Man / Secret Agent, starring Patrick McGoohan. I should restart that... I'm sure your Sunbeam Alpine will be just as nice when you get it running again, tux. This summer I found a Porsche mechanic who makes ...

Re: Life beyond SGI...

Super nice Triumph. I'm currently restoring a 1965/6 Sunbeam Alpine, albeit very slowly (I've had it since the early 90s). Needs fresh paint and a total engine rebuild after 188,000 miles - hasn't run in 4-5 years. Same model as pictured below but with both soft and removable hard tops. Good handlin...

Re: It's dumpster time again, free for pickup only!

eBay - starting with 1$ ??? Think of it as eBay with a $0 BIN and local pick up only. What you really want is a shipment option, except Sky can't be bothered to spend half a day (per system) to chase a suitable pallet and prepare it for shipping. Which is completely understandable. Putting it on eb...

Re: 3d Modeller and renderer

Hi BSDero! Did you find MegaPOV for Irix? Could you share the link? Gracias! I was wondering about that too. What I found was a generic Unix source version at the MegaPOV site: http://megapov.inetart.net/download.html Has anyone tried to compile the MegaPOV code for IRIX? Got Binaries? I found this...

Re: Storage rack disaster

Sorry to hear about your loss ... I want to get one of these for my new computer room: broder--element-t-poot__0112260_PE263665_S4.JPG I'll probably attach it to the wall so it won't tip over *ever*. What a horror story, sorry to hear it as well. I was considering putting my Octanes* on one of thes...

Re: myMac

So why an LC (Performa) 630, particularly? I have to confess that it is not one of my especially favourite Macs (there are worse ones, but there are many better ones). They were "road apples", but I love the compact case much more than the later 6400/6500 towers. To me those towers looked...

Re: myMac

Right now the last of my 68K "UniMacs" is thule, a long-lived Macintosh IIci, which has run NetBSD since 1999 almost continuously. It is still in operation and does internal DNS and AppleTalk filesharing. It works fine and I have no reason to scrap it, so it just stays humming along in th...

Re: Indy rides again (a new member appears)

Be careful, you might need a PROM update to be able to use an R4600SC in your Indy if its PROM is too old. Er, yes. Good thing it's actually getting a R4 4 00SC. just put this excellent hardware to good use. Yes indeed. I'll probably look at getting some of the excellent Nekoware stuff on it...
