Re: WTB : SGI compliant female 13W3 to male VGA cable (short length OK)

Yes, Like this but for SGI. Those for sale on ebay are usually for Sun and pinout is slightly different than SGI.

Re: WTB : SGI compliant female 13W3 to male VGA cable (short length OK)

Just one question: Are you sure that you won't need some kind of signal booster for a video cable of that length(100ft)? As you might loose signal fidelity due to losses incurred due to the length of the cable. Edit: according to this table, you should be able to get away with it. IMG_2601.PNG I wo...

Re: WTB : SGI compliant female 13W3 to male VGA cable (short length OK)

I don't have an adapter to sell you, but holy crap, a 100ft 13w3 cable??? Was it intended for having an Onyx rack in a server room and monitor at a desk or something? Were the keyboard and mouse also extended to that length? I didn't know such a thing even existed. Haha yeah holy crap ! I found it ...

WTB : SGI compliant female 13W3 to male VGA cable (UPDATE : FOUND!)

I need to plug the thing into a 100 ft 13W3 cable coming out of an Octane in the basement into a modern flat panel monitor. If you have that for sale or can build one, please contact me. Thanks in advance.

Re: Your first SGI encounter

Met an SGI Indy for the first time during an internship at Thomson Training & Simulation (now called Thales Training & Simulation) in 1995. Working on a nuclear power plant simulator (!!). I spent more time playing Doom during that summer than real programming to tell the truth. But my first...

Re: Whats it like living in japan?

7) DO NOT even think of working for traditional Japanese company - you'd have to conform to the stupid rules and stuff, if you're thinking of moving to Japan the easiest thing for foreigners is to become English teachers (but these days you'd need to be be native speaker). It's actually possible to...

Re: Best BSD Laptop Guide

I think you overpaid a bit for the whole thing. I bought a refurbished W520 with i7/8gig/K1000m and the docking station for $350. I added a 500gig msata SSD for $200. The thing works very fine for anything and total cost was $550. ;)

Re: Whats it like living in japan?

A good friend of mine is married to a pretty japanese girl. He loves Japan, everything japanese and speaks japanese very fluently (took him 10 years to get there). He often travels over there with his wife to visit her family. He told me it would be impossible for him to live full-time in Japan beca...

Nice article. First ever I see "Lightspeed C" mentionned somewhere ! My father taught me C in 1987 with that thing on a Mac SE. The 3D starfield splashscreen is what got me into this whole computing mess. Dammit !

Very nice !! Don't have that much money right now though. If the buyer isn't interested by the Lucid interface, I'd gladly take it off you hands. I'm in Paris too.

Re: Acquired a Fuel.

BTW, I bought a Dr Bott "SGI saver" some times ago and it works better than the MLA. No need for pin removal anymore as the thing supplies the right DDC info directly. Also, it displays the boot log better.

So sad and so true. I lost all interest in computing just after a few years working in it, about 15 years ago.
