Re: your latest purchase

be careful about getting any water or alcohol around the keyboard and touchpad. They seem to be very sensitive to contaminants.

Re: What's a "System Integrator's Guide"

It could be a manual for either IHVs or ISVs. Your guess as to the level of detail involved.
Personally I doubt it has information that wasn't already in e.g. Pipeline

Re: tezro DM3/VBOB/DM5 - multiple links

multiple links are used for higher fidelity signals. 4:4:4:4 requires two links, for example. That was before 3GHz-SDI was available, which can do 4:4:4:4 over a single link.

Rock Ridge attributes are the correct type for Unix systems. Don't use Joliet or Macintosh attributes.
Irix 6.5.22 does claim to support UDF filesystems, so I suspect that the problem was an incompatible version of UDF (such as 2.60), or missing files.

Re: O2 boot once then no idea why not

btw, the diagmode=v only effect is to display the results of power-on self test. It does not change the verbosity of panic messages.

Re: O2 boot once then no idea why not

You should be able to run the diagnostics if they are where it says they are.
What happens if you just type

Code: Select all

Re: O2 boot once then no idea why not

the IDE program may not be located in the volume header which is why it cannot be loaded
the sash may have become corrupted, or hardware fault

try loading sash from an install tools CDROM

Code: Select all

Re: Sun sparcstatuin 5 CD-ROM bootable for Indigo r4000 ?

That makes it easier. If they've used standard colors, the yellow is +12V, the red is +5V, and the black is Gnd return.
That looks like standard Mini-DIN-3.

Re: Sun sparcstatuin 5 CD-ROM bootable for Indigo r4000 ?

It is some proprietary configuration of DC power connector. It could be +5V, +12V, Gnd, if the drive uses both +12V and +5V rails, which I don't know offhand. Or it could be some other voltage or pair of voltages if there is an internal power converter. But Mini-DIN connectors are not rated to 120VA...

Re: Indigo power-on issues, possible dead drive

Code: Select all

dks0d1s0: Drive not ready: ASC=0x4c,.

ASC 4C/00 is defined as LOGICAL UNIT FAILED SELF-CONFIGURATION, also called "Diagnostic Failure - config not loaded".

It appears that the drive is malfunctioning.

Re: Sun sparcstatuin 5 CD-ROM bootable for Indigo r4000 ?

SCA is the 80-pin connector with data and power together. I don't believe any CD/DVD drive has that connector. The Sun Aurora chassis has a SCA backplane for hard disks, but the CD connector is a 50-pin IDC type. The cable is a special type for the Aurora, something like HD50M --- IDC50F --- HD50M t...

Re: Two Identical Octanes? Or are they? (Boot problem)

looks like missing boot file argument/ OSLoadFilename. Is the default kernel name set in the disklabel? (fx label/show/bootinfo)
