Re: rdesktop 1.8.3

I'll admit I have no experience with RDP, but surely 24-bit and 32-bit are the same thing, just RGB vs RGBA?

Re: WPA and WPA2 clients are all vulnerable to the KRACK attack.

Correct, but as I understand it, the issue can be mitigated on the router side by patching the router to send the "one-time" handshake key once, and only once, rather than allowing a key to be re-sent multiple times in the absence of client acknowledgment. Yes, that would be a good idea. ...

WPA and WPA2 clients are all vulnerable to the KRACK attack.

So saith https://www.krackattacks.com/ The paper is at https://papers.mathyvanhoef.com/ccs2017.pdf Summary: after WEP was found to be fatally insecure, the 802.11i amendment introduced a new key negotiation protocol, the "4-way handshake". It was mathematically proven to be secure. Two enc...

Re: I've Had It With Firefox - Alternatives I'm Exploring

RiseUp is apparently the host for the Tails git repository, which is a plausible reason to support them. They were also raided by the FBI several years back for being on the same VPN node as an anonymous remailer. Mozilla itself, though, has shown itself to be a bad actor. From selling its users' da...

Re: Looking for good software For PPC macs

iBook G4s can only run OSX. 10.4.11 (Tiger) would be the normal recommendation for a machine like that. There were thousands of software titles released for OSX PPC; what are you hoping to do with them?

Re: about LISP performance

Speaking of which, with regard to the Explorer, if I'm remembering right symbolics was the first dot com ever to be registered. The Internet certainly thinks so. In 1985 apparently. Note that domain registration depends on the DNS system, which was codified in November 1983 by RFC 882. Symbolics wa...

Re: about LISP performance

I have compiled results to share, and there's no word for them but "hilarious". I ended up having to use n=50000000 (as in the original examples) for the compiled results, because n=50000 was too fast for the resolution of the timer. MacIvory 2: 28 MacIvory 1: 54 MicroExplorer: 339 Necrop...

Each network interface needs to be provisioned in software to work. The same is true for serial ports.

Re: Dubious Tezro on ebay (certainly not mine!)

I assume that you can replace the AGP riser with PCI one with logic for AGP to PCI conversion is on AGP riser card and you can take out AGP cards and replace with V12 (i.e. back to SGI graphics), via XIO connector in chassis. The XIO card connector is on the back side of the PCI riser. The AGP rise...

Re: Dubious Tezro on ebay (certainly not mine!)

Please keep in mind that I have never used IP53 systems, and so my thoughts are based on information gleaned from the net. 1. I see that Tezro Rack is part of Chimera group and system boards are inter-changeable across then. Is this also true of Tezro Tower board ? Can you swap Tower & Rack boar...
