Yes, or the Extron 118, 120p, 124, or 202 Rxi should also work.

Re: doomed - use! HTTPS Everywhere - google explained why

The CA system is flawed but its flaws go deeper than just rent-seeking. Services like Let's Encrypt that make the process easier just make it easier to exploit, since anyone who can exploit the DNS and routing infrastructure can acquire valid certificates for any site. There was such an exploit toda...

Re: Acquired Indigo2 IMPACT, My first (working) SGI+Questions

If you look through the 5.25" bay you should be able to see the processor heatsink. If you have an R10000, it will have a fan recessed into it. R4400 does not have a CPU fan. You can use mild cleaners on the case without any fear, like the kind you would use to clean your dishes. It's pretty ob...

Re: New-to-Me Sun 3/60

No, I do not have a schematic. If I have free time, I can scope the 3/60's output and see how to handle it.

Re: New-to-Me Sun 3/60

As far as ECL-to-RGB goes, I've made one of these https://sites.google.com/site/tandycocoloco/mda-cga-ega-to-vga , and it seems like it is a possible future avenue. Until then, I'll keep on the lookout for a CG3/CG4. If anyone has a spare one, please let me know. You probably don't need rescaling (...

Re: New-to-Me Sun 3/60

Hello! The Sun 3/60 uses a Sun Type 3 keyboard connector (a DA15 plug), but it is electrically compatible with the later and more common Type 4 and Type 5 using the Mini-DIN-8 plug. You can see how the connectors are pinned here: http://www.sunhelp.org/faq/sunref5.html When the SparcStation came out...

I don't have time to watch that whole talk; do they mention that SNI completely invalidates their argument about passive eavesdropping and building profiles of users? slide here shows the profile built by the sites he visited; but SNI means that all those hostnames are always sent in plaintext when ...

Re: Advice on repairing an SGI keyboard with damaged plug

Are the pins in the plug bent? If some sharp object was jammed into them it can easily happen.
See if you can straighten the pins with a jeweler's screwdriver (there are better tools but most people have that one).

Are you sure you have a 1394 to ATA adapter, and not 1394 to ATAPI? They are different.

Re: Restoring an Indy, have some questions

No! There's a specific way to open the case, and I also didn't understand it at first. The first important thing is that you need to turn the Indy so the "latch" is on the right side. (Part of the secret is that there is no latch at all! There is just a pair of tabs that you force apart). ...

Re: Battery in Octane PVO card?

There are international regulations that limit the capacity of batteries on passenger airlines, which are the reason the MacBook batteries (for example) have had the same capacity for years: they are at the limit. The PVO card does not use a battery.

Re: Dat compatibility question

DDS3 Sony SDT9000 was offered with custom audio-capable firmware. Before that was the DDS2 Seagate Peregrine (4326NP) which also supported audio with the custom firmware. If you don't care about audio, any DDS drive probably would work.

Does the picture grow or shrink when you display different images? That points to a power supply or flyback problem.

Re: iMac G3: Bizarre startup problem

The "SCREEN" potentiometer controls the voltage of the G2 anode. Effectively, it repels electrons in the beam to decrease the current hitting the phosphor screen. The potentiometer interacts with a focus/screen voltage network which may be broken if you're seeing such wide swings in bright...
