Re: An item is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay... :)

For example, almost every time an O2 is sold on eBay, unless it’s packed properly, ends up with broken plastics at its destination. Over time, their numbers are effectively reducing as a result, and this is bound to create a scarcity in the market, which will inevitably result in an increase in pri...

Re: An item is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay... :)

I'm an Acorn guy at heart 8bit or ARM? Neither seems immune to some surprising (to a third party) pricing / buying. There's even a longrunning "LOLPRICE" thread on Stardot . That said, the rate of death-by-battery-damage among 1990's Acorns is steadily reducing the stock of working mother...

Re: An item is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay... :)

No SGI machine will ever fetch this get this type of price though, as good examples of these machines are just too numerous. They (or at least the premium models) did fetch that price, when SGI could build as many as they could sell at this type of price! Quite a few pricelists posted in these foru...

Re: SCSI fuse advice (or, how to kill a ThinkPad 800 with a SCSI2SD)

Once had a SCSI card start doing strange things and that was a blown fuse - though given the vintage it was easy to find next to the termination resistors. The manufacturer did say it would most likely have been caused by over-termination on the bus, I am sure (since then I remove device termination...

Re: your latest purchase

The prior owner did indeed remove the batteries before storage. I haven't gone through all the software but there is quite a lot of it, including a copy of Virtual Acorn. Unfortunately neither system is booting right now (the PSU in the Iyonix seems okay, but nothing starts up). PSUs often a culpri...

Re: your latest purchase

Purchased for "come'n'get it" but ended up with a crapload of RISC OS stuff (a possibly working Iyonix PC and a RISC PC that needs a bit of TLC but should be bootable, plus tons of software) Congrats, belatedly. Any pearls among the software? There's a RiscPC on the other desk here, plus ...

Re: SCSI Storage devices

Sony MO Disk unit RMO-S570 . IRIX finds it and it shows up on dekstop as optical, but states disk is not loaded even if the disk is in the unit. Sorry, coming late to this as not been readong Nekochan so often recently - but then a few weeks ago I would not have been able to share more recent exper...

CRT monitor, Acorn ROMs etc, RAM SIMMs/DIMMs, and other items (Yorkshire, UK)

As a result of a recent clear-out, I am open to offers on the following items - bit of a mixed bag. For the SGI enthusiast, I draw your attention to the monitor (SOG-friendly!), 13W3-RGB adapter, parity FPM SIMMs, DIMMs for Fuel/Tezro/etc, an EISA 100Mbit ethernet card for Indigo2 and a PCI-X U320 S...

A full system or just parts so I can build a full system. Please drop me a note if available with you. Hi, useful to have some idea where you are for post/pickup/delivery options. I do have a Fuel with the specs you want (and more - see hinv entry linked from sig) but not sure I'd contemplate the h...

Mine's not been on for weeks, maybe months - this does not bode well ... though maybe the prospect of pseudo-DCD when I come to experiment with the Dualhead2Go will be incentive enough.
It has red-lighted before but recovered after a console log-in. <fingers crossed >

Re: Why a static address not shown on the router

Some routers have a config for the range of addresses in use, so maybe 122 is outside that range?

You don't say whether you're troubleshooting lack of internet access - does the Octane see the router when pinging, and can you ping external IPs and addresses?

Re: 13w3-->VGA -->Dualhead2Go(digital)

Interesting concept - this page has a fairly concise rundown on i/o connectivity and resolutions. As far as IRIX goes the catch is likely to be in what resolution it expects to it receive the incoming image (e.g. 3840x1200 or 2x1920x1200), and if it can process that image to span multiple displays ...
