Re: What extremely rare (non-prototype) computers do you wish you could find?

I think many people have thrown away the odd thing and later regretted it. Many years ago, I threw out an old, broken Ferrograph reel-to-reel tape recorder (looked like this ). At the time, it was ancient, it didn't work (the sound was all garbled), and it was taking up a lot of space. I felt annoy...

Re: 2 x MIA Connectors required FC

ordered one, (yellow) Hmmmm, yellow is often single mode fibre. You need multi mode and those are usually orange. Other keywords to llok for: "50/125 µm" and "62.5/125 µm" are multi mode, "9/125 µm" is single mode. Single mode is for long distances (kilometers) and req...

Re: 2 x MIA Connectors required FC

I have some Fiber Channel cables I'm not using but I don't know if shipment from the US to the UK would make them worth it Thanks, these cables are really long, and long for a good reason, the A5000 is terribly noisy. Tell me about it, my A5000 left the building :) How long is really long, because ...

Re: 2 x MIA Connectors required FC

Received today and they work great.....

Except, one of my very long cables is caput!

Thought, well OK, lets put the A5000 in single loop mode, apparently though, you still need two working cables.

Gutted.. but, at least I have half the drive array at my disposal.

Re: Was this PCI-X card used in SGI Flame/Smoke systems ?

I had another attempt today, but no joy, drivers installed, but not showing. It does though show something on PCI 5 PCI Adapter ID (vendor 4165, device 51297) pci slot 5 But that's it. It is definitely a DM12. smj has one of those! He references it in this post: http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic...

Drivers should be in the unbundled folder in dist on an overlay disk.

World domination.

I've actually only got three working Octanes, it's my build up of o2's that I'm worried about. I seem to be attracting those rather rapidly (6 at last count).

Octane EMXI 2xR10000 195MHZ 1GB

So this machine was a pretty bog standard Octane2 with a 1.3 XBOW. The skins are a bit shabby though I must admit. Added Digital Video, Fibre Channel (awaiting connectors) and EMXI Graphics, and a new motherboard, since the PS/2 connectors were slack/loose on the old one. This also has a floppy in i...

Re: Q: Octane DIVO GALILEO15?

This thing shows up as GALILEO15 at hinv in PROM, I have tried installing the drivers from the links above but have failed miserably so far. http://www.siliconbunny.com/data_sheets/octane_digital_video.pdf Octane is running 6.5.30, and I think I have it with 6.5.11_divodvc_2.4, but got to find the m...

Re: 2 x MIA Connectors required FC

For anyone in need of these, my good friend XIRI found the place on ebay (UK). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STRATOS-LIGHTWAVE-DB9-SC-DUPLEX-MEDIA-INTERFACE-CONVERTER-NEW-/172270060653?hash=item281c18846d:m:msk-_AnInHlv3tTN_e8NNRA#shpCntId £9.99 free P&P, so hopefully not bad.

Re: Was this PCI-X card used in SGI Flame/Smoke systems ?

Not recognized at probably excludes the possibility it appeared in the "PCI Adpater ID" section of an hinv -vm or in the output of a run against the L1 PCI command. On the odd chance it made an appearance in either location (and the even less likely possibility you haven't already btdt), ...
