Re: WTB: Multilink or equivalent, or where to get them nowadays?

Bump! I am (clearly) also interested in MLA or equivalent, at a reasonable price... I have two, I will send you for postage, unsure if they work though. Do you have a power supply? Think I have one. [edit] I say they don't work, but when you press the function button, it displays perfectly the menu...

Re: Too many beers? IBM PS/2 Model 70 MCA

I've owned a few MCA machines in the past from IBM's Tower to a very nice Apricot model [Q-something] which ran XENIX with it's rather cool predictive command line. The Apricot QI? I've been noticing a lot with IBM's proprietary disks used in the PS/2 line that while they often did not use the SMD ...

Re: Too many beers? IBM PS/2 Model 70 MCA

Does anyone have an options disk for the XGA? I only have two files on it c8fdb.adf & @8fdb.adf I'd PM ibmfiles. He seems to have everything IBM-related. Great guy, has helped me a lot in the past. Thanks for the pointer, obtained the adf from there and all went really well.. now it just hangs....

Re: Too many beers? IBM PS/2 Model 70 MCA

Made a little progress, have one board identified, just need to get XGA installed. I read that the XGA-2 had problems with certain 386 models, but non for XGA? Does anyone have an options disk for the XGA? I only have two files on it c8fdb.adf & @8fdb.adf Also, stripped it down tonight and check...

Re: Too many beers? IBM PS/2 Model 70 MCA

8595 Arrived to in a very poor state.. PSU looks manky, everything looks manky.. BUT.. it did come with some cards that should help the model 80. XGA, the standard IBM SCSI Ctrl, plus another SCSI from mountain View. I have identified and obtained the adf files.. which I just can't get working. This...

Re: SGI O2 HDD caddy (STL file needed for 3D printing)

I'm interested in these 3d printers. Any advice on purchasing one? I looked on ebay, most expensive I could find was £6k, I want to spend no where near that of course.

It would have to go up in the shed, so possibly, networked or I'd have to stick a PC up there, which wouldn't be an awful thing.

Re: Too many beers? IBM PS/2 Model 70 MCA

Update: So I never did get the disk working in the machine, but it is usable as a terminal, since I created a boot disk with Kermit on it... and even though I purchased a new battery, it still needs the reference disk to set the system and the clock, so, something amiss there. AnyHoooo I have now pu...

Re: Discreet Effect

earlier version of Effect (6?) I think you were able to just specify a framestore file that resided on the XFS filesystem. I think the requirement to have a dedicated harddrive as a stoneFS came with Effect 7 (?) Interesting note I think the later version of Effect (8?) was renamed to Spark and it ...

Re: Fuel - on board network connector failed

Recently my house was directly stuck with a lightning strike. (I got a lot of damage, like a partly blown roof, broken windows, etc..) Happily, the power-lines for my computers are very well secured, and no psu blowed away. However, My cable network lines where electrically overloaded, and a lot of...

Discreet Effect

Anyone using this? I have it installed and working well after jumping over a few pitfalls. And, it actually works really well. It's old I know, and the capturing of video in is a bit strange after you are used to just clicking your pen, but it's quite rock solid. I have it at work attached to the in...

Re: Eclectic Light: "We need to document macOS"

An interesting post about the decline in the quality of Apple's documentation - https://eclecticlight.co/2017/08/13/last-week-on-my-mac-we-need-to-document-macos/ (The author is Howard Oakley, who has written some very nice utilities, like the Consolation log browser for macOS Sierra.) Gone are the...
