Re: Which SGI box is your favorite and why?

Interesting topic for myself actually, as I'm considering flooding ebay and going down to a few machines. As I look at all my machines and think about it and think about the things I do, what works at the turn of the key and those that require special needs, I'm so torn... it like giving away all th...

Re: Fuel DMediaPro DM6 PCI Digital Video

the US asking price for the DM6 in 2006 was 5,600 dollars... I wouldn't ask that much.. Unfortunately Ian, the PSU has gone like a Monty Python parrot. I have had it apart but forgot to get the card out and take details, and the whole machine is now ready for shipment to work in the...

Re: Fuel DMediaPro DM6 PCI Digital Video

Just to clarify, so your kind is the green type but it's not an SGI original? ie. no 013 sticker? If so, and it's recognised, then I expect it'll be ok. I'm guessing Discreet sw can't use it because Flame/Smoke doesn't use OpenML bits (so I figure). Ian. Just to confirm then, mine is not an OEM wit...

Re: Fuel DMediaPro DM6 PCI Digital Video

Ian, mine is green and it works.. I say works, it's recognized, but I haven't actually done anything with it yet and it doesn't work with any discreet stuff so far.

mapesdhs wrote:Old thread, but a relevant query: anyone know if the generic version of the green card (-001) would work in Fuel? I found a source, but the card doesn't have an SGI sticker on it.

Ian.

Unsure what colour mine is Ian, but I'll check when I get home.

(1) good trick to keep the male-watcher interested, but ... it's physically impossible to have a zero gravity shower. Without gravity how can water fall down? Because Future Science    ? You can force an object (water) in a direction in space, so a water shower should work with press...

Re: is something going wrong with the movie industry?

Watched Ant Man last night and The Circle. Ant man was actually quite good, although I found the concept of (at times) watching dots fly round the screen akin to a Flea Circus on a low budget. That said, a good film. The Circle, everything in had been done before (in a series called Black Mirror (UK...

Re: Fuel: 700 MHz, 4GB RAM, V12, GigE, 2xU320, DM6

Did we get a solution on this? I came back tonight and for the first time in a week powered on the FUEL.. only to be greeted with it powering off after 30 seconds (I now know). Checked the console out which would have given me a red hearing as I'd be pulling all sorts of things.. IP35 PROM SGI Versi...

Picked up my silver estate today.. RTFM'd the manual front to cover.. Very Happy so far.. looks like the COMAND OS has plenty of rather cool options. InkedIMG_5443_LI.jpg Before I paid for it, and in fact as we walked up to it, my 5 year son was instantly attracted to trying to pull off the bonnet b...

really fantastic job! An inspiration to us all! BTW what do you find works better in smoke than in flame? Nothing at all really. In fact, originally when I started, all knew was the name SMOKE and therefore aimed my attentions at that. In an email exchange with Ian Mapleson, he made a point that mo...
