Re: Too many beers? IBM PS/2 Model 70 MCA

It arrived today, cute little business like machine.. Usual 161, 162 errors. Download and created Reference disks and away I went.... well nearly. First disk got to the setup phase and then half way through restoring it's configuration suffered a read error on the disk. Only choice was cancel. Every...

Re: SGI Power Supply Tester

PS2 Mouse separate, PS/2 Keyboard separate IN --TO-- USB OUT (have a similar adaptor for my IBM Power InteliStation that you plug in a PS/2 keyboard in one cable, and a PS/2 mouse in the other that should come out as a USB.. but it doesn't work). PS/2 to USB I think is somewhat of a commodity; at l...

Re: SGI Power Supply Tester

This is great, and this is what I would want in THE ultimate adaptor.. Just my needs really and I do have many adaptors, but these have eluded me. SUN (Type 6 below? None USB & Keyboard and Mouse in one) IN --TO-- PS/2 / USB OUT. The SUN keyboard 5/6 is a really neat keyboard, if a little soft a...

Re: Java

I don't want to go too modern, the device I'm connecting to has an old version of Java.

So, am I right, latest Version of IRIX JAVA is 1.4 ?

Need to get my FUEL in the 20th century.

SUN A5000 Interface Card

I think I need one of these, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sun-540-2988-X6734A-Interface-Board-Assembly-for-A5000-A5100-A5200-501-2951-/261957786500?hash=item3cfde69b84:g:t7sAAOSw-vlVnAOR This one is quite, cheap, but my last purchase from the US incurred a large postage fee and a back hander to the HMR...

Re: What Apple hardware do we have?

My daughter gave me her old iPhone (iPhone 6 I think.. it big anyway) a month back, she said, Father, I'm sick of seeing you with a plaster holding your phone together..

I dropped it a week later.. and the screen smashed FFS!! I can't show her, I'll end up on the Jeremy Kyle show.

Re: Too many beers? IBM PS/2 Model 70 MCA

I am actually quite excited about it's arrival, (as always) and I guess it should arrive tomorrow fingers crossed. I've owned a few MCA machines in the past from IBM's Tower to a very nice Apricot model [Q-something] which ran XENIX with it's rather cool predictive command line. That as I said earli...

Re: Fibre Channel Switches

Well, I went and purchased a very very cheap Silkworm 3850, I thought it's a good gamble to get my hands dirty, understanding that it probably hadn't got the admin/root password. It arrived today, I powered it up and tried connecting to the serial, no joy there. Correct cables are at home. So I conn...

Re: Too many beers? IBM PS/2 Model 70 MCA

Let us not forget the 486 SX.. I had one in my Valuepoint many years back. In fact I recall, I purchased a '486 66 DX BluePoint??? Chip made by IBM. I fitted it, it blew up, I took it back and said it was faulty.. the guy looked at me knowing damn well I'd not changed the voltage settings on the MB ...

No idea, I don't even know if it's a 386 or 486. I read most are 386, but some later ones had a 486DX 66 which would be rather cool, if I read correctly.
