Re: A great holiday approaches...

Personally, I always like to do a job or two, then go to the pub. That way the pint is a deserved celebration of a good job well done! In fact, after spending several hours re-painting all the decking at the new house we moved to a few weeks ago, I'm about to crack open a beer myself now :) Well, t...

Re: 1st time boot into guest but why no start tune?

No internal speakers in the Octane.

If you press the power button it should do a controlled shutdown, and then (I think) the second press cuts the power.

Re: WTB Softimage|3D 4.0 Manuals

I can't help, but are you requiring those books in particular to learn to use?

Reason I ask.. Inside SOFTIMAGE 3D by Anthony Rossano is a good book. Seems to be the recommended read and still easily available.

FUEL V12 R16000 800MHz 4GB

I thought I had done a hinv for this machine some years back. Can't find it and now it's had a V12 fitted. Apart from the CPU could go up a notch to 900MHz (which I couldn't see a need), this machine is pretty top notch now,V12, LTO tape, DM6 (Pointless so far) etc 1 800 MHZ IP35 Processor CPU: MIPS...

Re: Any SGI in Ontario, Canada?

The paypal requires the same address as the shipping one, which prevent me using the receiving agent near the border. I don't think you're reading it right - I've never had a problem using my PayPal account and shipping to a different address. Same here, I have multiple addresses linked to my paypa...

Re: New octane does nothing

What Colour are the skins on your Octane, Green or Blue?
[Edit] I think it's green by the looks in the video.

You sort of want to be careful about how much money this absorbs from you.

Since you have come this far though, you may as well go for a MB.

Re: New octane does nothing

Seems we have run out of options, but is it the XBO or the MB? Shame, you don't live close old chap, I have plenty of stuff to test. It's a shame. Maybe I should just get a board like this one and try it like vishnu suggested? Doesn't state its worked or working? As a thought, have you cleaned the ...

Re: New octane does nothing

I am unsure if the power switch has to keep a permanent feed, but sounds to me like the power button or something that it feeds.
If you hold the button in long enough do you get any output serial or screeen?

Re: New octane does nothing

Maybe I need a new dallas chip? How would I even get one, would I need to reprogram one I got? Could I use the DS1687-5+ ? Do I need to reprogram it somehow when I get it? I don't know much about this stuff. I think the dallas chip might have gotten messed up somehow. I doubt it, not for powering o...

Re: New octane does nothing

Have we disconnected the dallas (or RTC) chip yet? Just a thought. No, if the chip is dead and I disconnect it will it boot? I was under the impression that the system wouldn't boot if it was removed, so maybe it is dead and that's the issue? I don't know. My thought on this was just to reset the d...

Can you compile anything in C#? If so.. Create a project with a form Add a timer - 'timerSetKey' in my example. Add a label - no real need to do this, mine is called 'labelResponse' but it's add some feed back. Throw this in the form .cs file using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using Sys...

A great holiday approaches...

I do love the wife, and the kids, but this weekend coming they are buggering off to Devon without me... :D So what's planned.. Well.. finally I get to re-do the office, including the tri monitor stand for my SGI monitors. Out goes 1 fuel, in the loft. Sitting on the desk will be 3 Octane 2s, two of ...
