That's a floppy drive. They fit upside down.

Re: Spectre and Meltdown

The POWER6 is not vulnerable to Meltdown. It _is_ vulnerable to Spectre. It's not clear whether IBM will offer firmware patches for it yet. source: tested my own system with the PoC Hurrah for my POWER5 then. Not necessarily: POWER4 (and then most likely also PowerPC 970 and derivatives) and POWER5...

Re: Computer with a real serial port

I have two nice little 'SHUTTLE' boxes that come with real serial, very small base units. Can't recall the exact model, CPU is i3 with 16GB, SSD all of which I had to buy separately. They are mounted on my wall and I RDP into them, although you can use them directly with keyboard/mouse and they have...

If you have a web application running on a server, that just does DB serving and web pages, therefore no outgoing 'browsing', could this be affected do we know?

Re: Tezro for sale (mine) (located in The Netherlands)

Hi Guys, A combination of lack of time, space and some repairs to my house has led me to the decision to sell the Tezro that is detailled here: http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16732168&p=7403658#p7403658 The machine is in the same state as depicted there. I really would not l...

Re: Newbee needs help with error message...

Well, still saying the disk is bad, but to keep you entertained are you able to run the network setup from the tool chest?

Depending on your version of IRIX, this can be done through SYSTEM --> SYSTEM MANGER and then Networking & Connectivity. I can't recall earlier versions tbh.

Re: Octane 1.5 + Irix 6.5.26 + Wacom (sharing a great feed back)

as for the tablet disconnecting itself - never happened here on any generation. perhaps the cable is damaged - or if it's a serial one - the power supply on the way out? also in irix i've always used the wacom-provided driver, never the one that ships with discreet gear (wacom one works for that as...

Re: Newbee needs help with error message...

Well that rules out any other drives.

Also lack of DNS resolvers explains a bit of slowness, but why no resolv? Is this a new install? What's the history in this machine?

Re: Newbee needs help with error message...

This isn't a simple Windows machine I'm afraid, you have a learning curve to overcome. You only have one physical 'HD' so unless another external drive was mounted, that's your lot. So I suggest you type "cat /etc/fstab" and check if it tried to mount anything else. Also, lets try the orig...
