Re: Indy badges?

If I can offer a guess, they used the initial cover until supplies last ( thus gluing the extra badge on the improved units ), then moved to the new design

Re: Announcement - Fuel ATX PSU adapters available for purchase

If you have some spare psu available, testing would be very quick, I think

Re: Indy RAM

Did you try the ram you removed, in place of the 32mb ? ( Just to make sure )
If you did, try each of the 4 in combination with 3 of the 4 known working, to see how many modules failed ( no point in buying 4 if just one is faulty, by example )

Re: Fuel fixer uppper

You do have a point. I do wonder if there are alternatives to changing the chips. By example, would it be feasible to place a chip on top of the existing and ensure contacts at least temporarily, to identify the culprit ? Then fixing it permanently on top in parallel, and cut the power pins to the f...

Re: Fuel fixer uppper

It seems a good price for that kind of service ( seems quite a quality one, if they do all they mention ) and to replace all 3 chips. Maybe it would be worth to service also the V10 ( has one i2c too ) and the cpu module ? (assuming it would be a marginal extra if done at the same time vs as a separ...

Re: 900Mhz Fuel and Octane 2 husk for sale

sometimes a fuel doesn't like a keyboard and/or mouse , it's enough for a red light.
If you have any other spare kb/ms , may be worth a try

Re: Fuel fixer uppper

given that those chips are widely used in modern hw, I think it was just a bad batch / bad quality control / bad stroke of luck. Anyway it may be a safe bet for anyone having a Fuel with an older revision board to at least keep it connected to the power outlet even if just stored (if that could be e...

Re: Fuel fixer uppper

I'm doubting that these chips fail due to temperatures. I know of some that developed quirks by having the board not receiving current for more than 6/12 months. You said you didn't turn on the Fuel for a while, since before the move. Was it being kept connected to the wall outlet, or totally isolat...

Re: Fuel fixer uppper

mmmm before removing the chips , what about checking the current on the pins that should have Vdd etc ? ( the chip schematics are online ) ( this is for the OP ) This to triplecheck that the issue is a chip, and not something prior elsewhere. And... one chip should be on the backside of the mb.. are...

Re: Fuel fixer uppper

you could try

test i2c

maybe helps to identify the one having troubles. But I "think" having read on this forum that i2c chips can give errors either if faulty, or if not receiving the +5v
