Re: Network traffic
If you only have tcpdump, substitute the correct interface # tcpdump -i en0 -nn -tt | perl -ne '($ts) = (/^([\d\.]+)/); ($l) = (/length (\d+)/); $int+=$l ; if ($ts-$p >= 1 || eof) { printf("%02d:%02d:%02d %10.2f Mbytes/s %s\n", (localtime($p))[2,1,0], $int/1024/1024, "." x ($int/...

I love that you referenced that @miod.
Do we get to see the whole 1GB in OpenBSD soon ?
And since we're asking, has anyone you know ever figured out how to poke things into ICE and get back meaningful results? If I ever got smart enough, I always hope to do that.

Re: Yet another O2 PSU fan replacement
I don't recall what fans I have (I may be able to tell you later), but my R12k 400 O2 is whisper quiet (I also have an SSD). Run for days at a time a mix or workloads (compilation, rendering, idle etc). With north island NZ summer being in the high 25C+.

Re: WTB: Powerbook G4, 12in / 1.5GHz
Glad to help. I run a Canon 5d (now known as “classic”) from the same vintage. All works well enough together, the g4 has enough to do RAW at 12MP. The best is the PB works dual head with my 1920x1200 display. My other, far more powerful 2011 MacBooks discrete gfx failed. I’m watching Louis Rossmann...

Re: WTB: Powerbook G4, 12in / 1.5GHz
If you didn’t know Adobe released CS2 for free on 10.4, which was all G4 vintage of course. Apparently they couldn’t keep their license server running or justify its operations for a vanishingly small user base. See their web for the license key and download. Of course I’m keeping a G4 in service as...

Re: ipfilterd udp
have you run tcpdump to confirm whether UDP traffic is passing the Gbit or built in 100Mbit interface on the Octane? I realise that doesn’t explain the difference of running ipfilterd or not but it might track whether you have some comms passing either interface. Are you running routing software? Ro...

cat /etc/resolv.conf
ifconfig -a
tail -n 50 /var/adm/SYSLOG

Re: Softimage Tutorial #1
Really good job!
Easy flow, good capture, great delivery. You obviously know your stuff!
Does Softimage also do skeletal modelling and animation, or was alias/maya of that era the first to combine those with modelling?

Re: [RESOLVED] o2 not able to get online anymore.
So you really have three nameservers on .5 .150 and .105
You can test them like this
nslookup google.com @<ip>
Substiute <ip> for each entry in resolv.conf

Re: o2 not able to get online anymore.
You have some funny entries in your route table and, more critically, no default route.
route add default 192.168.1.1
