Re: RGBA 48 bits with db at 1280*1024 works on V10?

About V12: can someone explain why in maximum possible framebuffer quality 12/12/12/12 db there is ONLY 16 bit depth buffer? Why? I also think about marketing (V12 vs. IR) because there is enough memory left for at least 24 bit depth buffer.

RGBA 48 bits with db at 1280*1024 works on V10?

I wonder can one select such a mode? We have on (all?) VPro 128 bits per pixel. Take 48 bits RGBA first color buffer and take second again 48 bits. The sum is 96. And we have exactly 32 bits left for Z-buffer (24 bit + stencil). But glxinfo shows only 10/10/10/2. Why? Even on IMPACT I can select 12/...

Re: Current state of Alias Composer and Studiopaint (3D)

Can someone explain why SP 9.5 not using hardware brushes with V6/V10 graphics (http://download.autodesk.com/us/aliasst ... t_9.5.html)? As far as I understand V10 is not worse in almost all positions comparing to MXE? What is the real reason of this thing? Marketing?

Re: [Fuel] Both SCSI buses show 15 ghost devices

Trippynet , okay I'll do a search about that. I.e. even on latest revision of Fuel L1 only monitor PSU PRM values and not control them? What about other fans in the system? And PSU fan speed totally unconrollable (even by PSU itself) and only can increase to some limit, right? Mark , you are right,...

Re: [Fuel] Both SCSI buses show 15 ghost devices

You were right. It was ID conflict. I changed both devices IDs to 1 and it works now. Thank you. PS: I don't want to create one more thread and want to ask you here [before my question I made a search through all forum and found varied answers] - in that our Fuel most annoying thing about sound leve...

Re: [Fuel] Both SCSI buses show 15 ghost devices

Thanks for answers. We'll try it. It seems that all four (DVD-ROM, HDD and both SCSI controllers) devices have the same ID, that is - "0"? Right?

[Fuel] Both SCSI buses show 15 ghost devices

I think this is continue to this thread - "http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16728289". Story: my friend bought some time ago two Fuels in relatively good condition. Both are first revisions (2002). Both have equal configuration (as I can tell) but with SCSI there is somet...

Re: Current state of Alias Composer and Studiopaint (3D)

I wonder what overall precision of OpenGL pipeline (including rasterization part) implemented in hardware by SGI? In the mid-end (MGRAS, VPro) and hi-end (RE, IR). Do they implement full 32 bit floating point single precision (IEEE 754-1985) or something less (16-24 bit float)? Some time ago I tried...

Re: Current state of Alias Composer and Studiopaint (3D)

foetz, GIJoe - thanks for answers! Can you please explain to me next thing. In this page "http://download.autodesk.com/us/aliasstudio/qualcharts/spaint_9.5.html" Alias wrote about hardware brushes (there are two of them - 8 and 12 bit). I assume this is quantity of bits per one color chann...

Re: Current state of Alias Composer and Studiopaint (3D)

not that i know of http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/alias-wavefront-ships-maya-composer-55-73645732.html But that for IRIX version only. Other platform versions have Fusion in them. but i believe that is strictly 2D and a concepting tool? It seems you're right and Studiotools only had 2D par...

Current state of Alias Composer and Studiopaint (3D)

I wonder where now these perfect products are? As far as I understand Composer was built into Maya (??). What about Studiopaint (last was 9.5 version?)? Is it part of today's Studiotools (Alias Studio) or not? I worked for a while with Alias Studiotools 13.5 for Windows (first version without IRIX) ...

Re: SPECviewperf®

Magnifique!! What software did you use to draw this graphs? Let me know if you want to run the SPECviewperf 6.1.2 tests on your SGI system, so I can add it to the list. Unfortunately due to some circumstances I sold my Octane about two years ago and at this time I have no SGI computer. iamcamiel , w...

Re: SPECviewperf®

I tried 7.1.1, but the performance is abysmal, and there doesn't seem to be a 1-1 relation between the tests in 7.1.1 and 6.1.1. Can you please run 7.1.1 on your Onyx if there is a time? It is very interesting for me to compare your IR2 to my Q4 XGL 980 in old PC (P4) in that test. As for 6.1.2 I r...

Hi! Try download and build 7.1.1 version from here "ftp://ftp.spec.org/dist/gpc/opc/viewperf/unix/". I have not SGI by now and cannot tell you exactly whether it for Linux only or for all UNIXes.

Re: A few questions about SGI hardware

Does someone know next thing - speed of rendering in mode 12/12/12 less than 8/8/8 [both on SGI] or almost the same?
