Re: New acquisition: 5364 System/36, 5170 host

Update, I located an MFM controller for the ST4038 for the 5170, Installed, configured the drive type, LLF, HLF, installed dos and restored my backup. Back in business. Turned on the 5364 for the first time..... Let it boot? (floppy light was on for a long time), and could see communication of some ...

Re: New acquisition: 5364 System/36, 5170 host

Just a quick update: After rebuilding the battery, entering the cmos settings in basic and booting the 5170 it became very apparent the ST-238R was dying, I created copied everything (S36, PCS36,VDISK) from the drive minus dos onto 2x 1.44mb floppies and have everything backed up needed to restore o...

Just in case you were wondering, photobucket sucks dead donkey balls ... bloated, rotting, hairy, stinking maggot-laden dead donkey balls. Hahaha! I was going to use my Google drive but didn't wan't to chew up space. Found my DIN->PS2 keyboard adapter, hopefully tomorrow I'll have a battery pack pu...

New acquisition: 5364 System/36, 5170 host

Well I've gone and done it, I spent 4hrs in the car to go pickup a Baby S/36 system, with host PC, monitor, keyboard, 8 Binders of manuals, 2 boxes of disks, and spares. So far I've powered on the 5170 to be greeted with a 161 error, Going to need to find a battery and reconfigure that before going ...

Re: Is HP support doing it again (printer drivers)

I get the same message when searching for my CLJ MFC 2840 for windows XP.

Guess it's time to dump it in the e-waste bin since it's giving me issues anyway.

Re: What HP/DEC/Compaq do we have.

Thank god no! I did email him, apparently he has a skid full of them and is just trying to get rid of them. I thought about it,but i couldn't get over the Cadillac badge upfront. I have a feeling he's going to have those for a while. This was one on eBay in Canada. it was the last one they had, I mi...

Re: What HP/DEC/Compaq do we have.

Depends on the specs. I just bought a C8000 myself with the following specs: 2x PA8900's 1 Ghz 64MB Cache 8GB Ram (8x 1GB) 4x 73GB 15,000RPM ATI FireGL X3-256MB Philips soundcard The price I paid was 200CAD +45CAD shipping. I'd say I got a smoking deal :) It looks like there's quite a few C8000 owne...

Re: A380

Dash-8's are one of my favorite airplanes to fly in. yes a little noisier, and yes a little slower, but it's still a good flying experience. My all time favorite flight was on a beech 1900. you got window and isle at the same time and with only 18 other passengers it wasn't annoying. best part was t...

Octane2, 2x600MHz R14K, 4.5GB, V12+DCD, PCI cage

I've been meaning on posting this for a while, definitely my favorite SGI, until I get a house. started out as a 2x300mhz with 1GB(128x8) and a V10, 36gb. Paid $199 for it, not a bad deal. Then added on: PCI Shoebox, 2x600mhz, V12 Video with DCD, 4x1GB, DDS4 So far it's been a lot of fun upgrading i...
