Re: creating a mirror

This is a small script I wrote to manage my mirror at https://nekoware.bufferoverflow.xyz : #!/usr/bin/env bash ########## BEGIN CONFIGURATION ########## RSYNC_OPTS="-av --delete" SOURCE=rsync.nekochan.net SOURCE_REPO=nekoware DEST_DIR=/opt/mirrors/nekoware LOG_DIR=/var/log/nekoware RUN_TI...

Re: For download: IRIX netboot appliance

I pulled all the DINA files and documentation from the mirror at shiftleft.com down to my own mirror which I recently migrated to some newer and more reliable hardware. Feel free to use the link below, and please don't hesitate to PM me if something goes missing or the mirror ever falls out of sync....

Re: freeware.sgi.com no longer online

So in addition to fixing my mysteriously broken mirror sync script :P I also mirrored some parts of ftp.sgi.com and oss.sgi.com. There was too much extraneous crap in there to just grab everything, but I made sure to grab certain items of interest like inventor, performer, etc. If you don't see some...

Re: freeware.sgi.com no longer online

Some time in the next few days I'll work on pulling it all down to my mirror at nekoware.dustytech.net.

Re: Scuffs on SGI plastic skins

Lots of great info to be had in this thread. There are a number of good options for buffing out small scuffs and marks. Deeper scratches would probably require a putty or other filler of some kind.

Re: Alpha Micro machine - IRIX?

Spotted this machine on ebay, not even sure what it really is, but its got "SGI IRIX 6.0" in red marker on the front. Is someone trying to confuse me (if so its working quite well) or does irix run on things other than mips cpu's. That Alpha Micro is a 68k. IRIX is strictly MIPS-only AFAI...

Re: Bitcoin miner finally arrived

Then you have a $6,000 paperweight that you can't use for anything else. I imagine a bleak future, one of migrant miners with their SHA256 ASICs in tow, wandering between coin projects as each hash vein is stripped clean, aching to recoup their expenses in the vast new frontier of the digital West....

Re: Bitcoin miner finally arrived

If you don't possess a good asicminer like ClassicHasClasses, then better go litecoin... GPU bitcoinmining is practically over :-( From my point of view even Litecoin's starting to go tits-up for anyone who doesn't have the latest and greatest GPU rigs. I was possessed to start Litecoin mining when...

OpenVMS, but that, too, might not like your graphics card.

Other than that, Windows Server or Linux are the only other big contenders.

You're spot on. It's just shorthand for colocation.

Re: More Primary Mirror Stuff

If you were getting colo for $60 a month you were stealin' it! Around here it starts at ~$260 a month, for which you get 1U of rackspace which is capped to one byte per day... Jeez! Bits and amps must be more expensive the closer you get to Canada. :) I know of some places where for $...

More Primary Mirror Stuff

Hardware's getting expensive so I virtualized it. No sense in paying $60/month colo fees for something that gets used less than your grandma's lingerie.

Just synced the mirror to the new box. Same hostname but no IPv6 this time around. PM me if anything's broken.
