HP ZX6000 and ATI FireGL X3

Hi all, I have a HP ZX6000 box here with 8GB RAM, dual 1.5GHz Madison cpu's and the ATI FireGL X1 card (HP OEM version) now running Debian Wheeze (well the Testing Dist). I think its a nice machine to play around with. After a bit of mucking around with EFI partitions to get it to boot up, success. ...

Re: Wanted: HP ZX6000 Parts Required or Complete Tower

Yes, i think my only bet may be to hunt down a complete low end system on ebay. There are a few zx6000 tower workstations on there right now, but unfortunately i can't convince anyone to ship internationally.... Not to mention the prices are a little more than im prepared to pay considering the extr...

Wanted: HP ZX6000 Parts Required or Complete Tower

Hi, I recently purchased a HP ZX6000 ia64 tower off ebay, however it is missing the plastic skins! Specifically, the two silver plastic side covers and the black top plastic cover. The part numbers are listed below. HP P/N:A7231-04041 HP P/N:A7231-04064 HP P/N:A7231-40036 I have contacted HP directl...

Re: Solaris 10u8, XVR-1200 and Xrender

Yes, it seems to help a bit! One of the other things that i think helps is changing the default Oracle gnome theme to something else like mist. Don't know why they chose that one as the default... It seems so slow, i don't think it even looks that pretty... But what do i know! :D Also, changing the ...

Re: Solaris 10u8, XVR-1200 and Xrender

I wonder if i mod the XVR-1200 to run it in the 66MHz PCI slot will improve the situation? Probably not! How does the XVR-1200 compare to the UPA bus graphics adapters for general 2D, (i.e. XVR-1000, Elite 3D, etc.)? Im sure it has nothing to do with a bandwidth limit and just the way Xsun X11 is im...

Solaris 10u8, XVR-1200 and Xrender

Hi all, I am now the lucky owner of a Sun Blade 2000 configured with Dual 1.2GHz USIIICu processors, 8GB RAM and XVR-1200 graphics. My first impressions are quite good, it is generally faster and more practical as a daily driver compared to my SGI Octane with dual 400MHz R12K and V6 graphics. I plan...

Re: > 2 serial ports on Octane

I can confirm the PCI 2 Port Serial card (SGI P/N: 030-1657-003 Rev A) works in an octane ip30 running 6.5.29 with the PCI Shoebox adapter.

Tested and working ok with a Wacom graphics tablet!

Re: Convincing my octane to take custom resolutions?

In the past, the way that i went about the problem is to first find out what are the actual SUPPORTED display timing modes by reading the DDC info of the LCD or CRT. Making huge changes wont work. Display timings are a huge story in itself, CVT and GTF are different because LCD screens dont need the...

Re: Convincing my octane to take custom resolutions?

Ok, great news! sounds like your getting somewhere! Before you go back down to a lower refresh rate, try playing with the vertical blanking timings as well. You might need to lower your horizontal porch (front and or back) timing and just slightly increase your vertical blanking timing. The message ...

Re: Convincing my octane to take custom resolutions?

Another thing that you can also do is to slightly increase the horizontal front & back porch in your vfs blocksync file... This will also bump up your pixel clock rate!!!! There is a limit as to how far you can go of course as the image may not be centered or offset, the phase can be off or it m...
