current IRIX mplayer is somewhat able to play some 720p stuff on my 800mhz R16k. It seems to be totally uniprocessor only. Drops frames if VBR is too high. Nice one! I have a quad 800 and dual 800, I use the dual 800 a lot more as it generates significantly less heat and runs quieter. I'd guess the 4x1g to be quite a bit louder even!

I believe the connectors are press-fit and you might be able to remove them with enough prying, but it's less likely that you would get a reliable connection even after pressing in new ones, as the ENIG plating will have deformed in each hole.
