Re: [Craigslist - SF Bay Area] 12 Silicon Graphics (SGI) O2s

Well, I haven't heard back and the listing is gone. I guess he found someone more interested.

Re: [Craigslist - SF Bay Area] 12 Silicon Graphics (SGI) O2s

So, I did hear back and it sounds like spending a Saturday or Sunday inventorying the lot would work best if I am doing the scouting. I've asked for an inventory of a sample of the lot to get an idea of what's available. The seller did not answer whether he's willing to sell individual units so I'm ...

Re: [Craigslist - SF Bay Area] 12 Silicon Graphics (SGI) O2s

I can only think of a possibility for one Nekochanner to go scout the bunch and to a quick optic inventory, check overall condition, etc. Then perhaps there's a possibility to split the lot and part them out. I don't live too far from San Jose and I might be willing to do the scouting if there's en...

[Craigslist - SF Bay Area] 12 Silicon Graphics (SGI) O2s

This isn't my listing, but seems like a nice opportunity for someone who seriously loves O2s. I've sent an email asking whether they'll sell individual units and will update this thread if/when I hear back. 12 Silicon Graphics (SGI) O2 Computers - $500 (san jose south) Date: 2011-05-16, 9:30AM PDT R...

Re: FS: Possibly for group buy

I would definitely be interested in contributing for an Octane 2 with V12 DCD I would need someone to arrange shipping it since I'm located in California though.

Re: Free Sparcstation 20 parts

Do you have the little black security block that screws into the rear of the system? My SS10 needs one and I think they're identical to the SS20. I'm not sure what you're talking about so I don't think so. If you have a SM71 or better or a VSIMM you can probably get some money for them. Definitely ...

Thank you for the replies. Unfortunately, things have come up at work and within family so I don't know when I'll be able to visit this issue.

Free Sparcstation 20 parts

My Sparcstation 20 never worked right and I've concluded it's the motherboard. I don't care to replace it so I'm parting it out free (please pay shipping though). All parts except for the CDROM drive are available -- including the dead motherboard, in case you want to cut it up and make an awesome T...

Re: Indigo power supply failure

It might be worthwhile to post a picture of the damage. I wouldn't be too surprised if somebody here could tell you exactly what failed just from that. Agreed. Unfortunately, I don't have a decent digital camera, but I may be able to borrow one. I'll try and get some pictures up by tonight. Update:...

Re: Ooh! Someting of REAL value!

I recently had to help someone else clean up their collection. You think my collecting is bad? This place was a disaster. 100_0601.jpg Man, that's pretty bad. Reminds me of a friend I had whose studio apartment was packed from floor to ceiling with stuff he had hoarded. It was a really sad situatio...

Re: Indigo power supply failure

Definitely a diode. Diodes tend to fail spectacularly for one of two reasons: excessive reverse voltage and excessive current, and in both cases the overload needs to be significant for there to be anything noticeable. Look very carefully at the caps in that section of the PSU to see if one has fai...

Re: Indigo power supply failure

Do you know about where in the supply "chain" the diode was? Since the computer went on running it (if it was really a diode) was probably in a lesser-used rail such as the -12V. I have no idea where in the supply "chain" the diode was since I don't know anything about electroni...
