Re: 3D Studio

Just wanted to throw my 2 coin in..... Have just completed graphics for a television pilot and am close to completing VFX for a fantasy web series using Maya 4.0 on Irix for most, if not all, my 3D modeling. While my O2's may not be the fastest machines on the planet they are, for me, a whole lot mo...

I have Matador on one of my O2's and it works fine. Great paint program.

Re: O2 Electrostatic Sensitivity

maybe a cable problem? That would be my initial guess. Maybe the static discharge passes through the insulation in the ethernet cables themselves? There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it-sometimes it happens and other times it doesn't. All of my stuff is in pretty close proximity, howeve...

O2 Electrostatic Sensitivity

As a rule I try to be really careful around electronics in regards to static electricity. I always discharge myself on something metal before getting around my computers, or if working on hardware I will ground myself somehow. But occasionally I'll forget to do do these things and zap myself on part...

Re: The #1 Programmer excuse for legitimately slacking off

Heh, this is a lot like the excuse that 3D animators use for slacking off - "Rendering!"

Yep. That one always worked for me.

Re: Flight Simulator in Google Earth

I use it all the time-love it! I used to use Flightgear quite a bit, which is a great sim, but GE's is pretty fun too. Plus you can use it on Mars and the Moon, which is an interesting experience!

Re: Admin for Facebook Group

Ok, I went ahead and became admin. I'm not planning on changing anything right away, however, contact info is listed as http://www.nekochan.net (it was that way previously). If this was done without the knowledge of any Nekochan site admins, and if you'd prefer that I change it, let me know. Otherwi...

Admin for Facebook Group

Is anyone here a member of a Facebook group called I Love My SGI? Someone just left and now the group is "admin-less". Does anyone here want the job?

I'd consider it myself but being that I'm relatively new to SGI's I'm probably not qualified. ;)

Re: Laptop PC problem

That will work just make sure to scan the files once you get them off, you never know what that stuff has attached itself to. That's a good point as well-thanks! I'm thinking of trying to convince her to switch to Ubuntu, or something other than Vista-she sounds pretty disgusted with it at this poi...

Re: Laptop PC problem

I think so.

Cool! If that'd work I could at least get to her files and maybe move them to a flash drive or something similar. Either way I've got some good ideas now.

Thanks for the help! :D This made me think of something else: could I open it with a bootable Linux CD?

Laptop PC problem

Got a Windows situation I was wondering if I could get a bit of help on: I have a friend with a laptop running Vista, and it has apparently locked up on her big time. Based on her description, she says that she can get it to the desktop and move the mouse cursor around, but neither of the mouse butt...

I have v.4 on both my O2's as well as PC. I've never had too many serious problems with any of them.

Re: Maya timeline color.

Here's that command if you haven't tried it already: display/UI elements/restore UI elements.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but this command has fixed a lot of weird stuff for me in the past.
