Re: Sun xvr-1200 graphics driver

If you're still using this system with this graphics card, you may be interested in finding out that a developer in the Illumos (the kernel formerly known as OpenSolaris) has finally released a fully working SPARC version of OpenIndiana, with OpenXsun, open-sourced drivers for the Sun XVR framebuffe...

Re: [craigslist]: 2x Origin 2000 Desksides - Baltimore, MD

I just nudged him on Craigslist to see if it's still available.

I'm moving to the DC area, so I may be interested in one of those, or at least have the chance to use one for a short while and play with them.

Cheers!

Re: Openindiana

I've been using it in virtualized environments, and it's pretty damn stable. :)

Re: New to SGI's and IRIX

I like the quote from Jurassic Park in your sig... 8-)

Other operating systems that may help you in your learning of IRIX would include Solaris/OpenSolaris and Linux, in that order. I'm hoping to acquire an Origin300 in the next few weeks, so I may be able to lend a hand with what I learn.

Re: freenx for IRIX?

I'd like to see this ported as well. Neko - what's the procedures for making a package on IRIX 6.5? I'd like to jab at it, but no clue on how to create packages - I only know how to compile code from source and install manually. IRIX's package system is new to me.

How about an Origin that's 200+ MHz?

WTB: SGI Octane2, under $300 (US/Tennessee)

If I can't find a Fuel or a Tezro, I'll settle for an Octane2.

I fear that I've lost all my SGI systems since I think I lost my storage locker when I was having financial difficulties. :cry:

WTB: SGI Fuel or Tezro, under $300 (US/Tennessee)

Is it even possible to find one for that cheap?

Let me know, shipping zip code is 37086.

Re: 3/60

I'm using a serial console, and when the computer on the other side of RS-232 goes down, the Sun-3 would also halt to a boot prom. I find that rather annoying. I believe I've seen the topic considering the same problem somewhere on Nekochan, but I wasn't able to find it recently. And anyway it was ...

Yeah I would probably stick with Solaris 10 until Xsun is moved to OpenSolaris.

Re: What SUN hardware do we have?

I miss my Sun hardware. Here's a list of my previous equipment:

* Sun SPARCstation 4
* Sun Ultra 5 (upgraded to 440MHz UltraSPARC IIi)
* Sun Netra t1
* Sun Fire 280R

I *really* miss the Ultra 5 and the 280R...

Re: Question regarding Octane

Thanks for the feedback. As soon as I get it, I'll throw a hinv on the boards, and get everyone's feedback. My target is to play around just a little with IRIX, mount my home directories and possibly the nekoware directories on an NFS share over my LAN, and get CPU and GPU upgrades. I have an 18GB 1...
