R12k 400mhz o2 CPU with borrowed R10k 175mhz heatsink

many thanks to jan-japp for pointing out this little gem in a different thread https://www.ebay.com/itm/183149845725 Basically it appears some scrapper tore off the heatsink and did who knows what else to the module. I happen to like to gamble sometimes and I had a spare R10k module I was willing to...

Re: Yet another O2 PSU fan replacement

just wondering how do you guys determine how hot it gets? I had my r10k 300mhz o2 running and I used one of those hand held laser thermometers. I put a piece of paper against the o2 and it looked like it was sucking the air in at the black plastic base under the AV module and also the bottom front o...

Are you using a pci card also?

Re: Homebrewed 128Mb SGI O2 RAM

1. It could be there are not enough address lines wired, on the mainboard or to the DIMM sockets. 2. At some point if you keep enlarging the RAM, it's going to overlap something else (hardware registers, PCI, ...) and you will crash. That's what happens if you install a third 512MB kit in an IP28 I...

Re: Homebrewed 128Mb SGI O2 RAM

so I was wondering - what exactly is limiting the o2 to 1GB of RAM? I always assumed it was because of proprietary DIMMs, but this morning I was thinking of how the Indigo2 was able to go up to 1GB of RAM by using accidentally compatible DIMMs developed for some other purpose.. So I'm sort of asking...

Hey, sorry I'm late to the party... which front panel openings are we talking about on the o2?

Re: $4k LOT of SGI. Florida, USA, Tezro, Onyx, Octanes. [Ebay] Not Mine

Like a little modern o2. What about a little modern Tezro :) ? 149622_large.jpg For sale here: https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Cases/Mini-ITX/71599-QUADSTELLAR It would be pretty funny if one could somehow stuff the guts of a Tezro into that pc case (you know, how it seems popular for PC people...

Re: Octane in UK

Have to admit I'm tempted, although probably shouldn't.. CRTs look in reasonable condition? I probably need a spare. I'm near Manchester, resisted an Octane so far because of noise, but my O2s run Irix and OpenBSD. Compiling OpenBSD software on an O2 (admittedly an 180MHz R5000, but the 300MHz isn'...

Re: $4k LOT of SGI. Florida, USA, Tezro, Onyx, Octanes. [Ebay] Not Mine

Pretty impressive stack of hardware. Though.... is it $4k worth? Feedback? I'd say ~$800-$1k for tezro, ~$1k for "onyx4", $1k for both Octanes, plus the O350 and the PC and various odds and ends... $4k might be very top price for everything, doesn't really leave room for any resellers. I'...

Re: Can we talk about Acard SATA II to SCSI bridges?

anyone following this - I ended up getting a SCSI2SDv6, and I sort of talked more about it here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16732875&p=7410591

basically it seemed pretty good on my 5.3 system, not so much on 6.5

Re: Is there a way to see what the current blocksize is for a XFS filesystem?

So I moved on from my Indigo2 Extreme IRIX 6.5 disk/install and cloned my Indigo2 Extreme IRIX 5.3 EFS disk onto the SCSI2SDv6 using an 8GB class 10 microSD (I attached the script I used to clone the EFS disk - its a slightly modified version of Ian's procedure http://www.sgidepot.co.uk/disksfiles.h...

Re: Is there a way to see what the current blocksize is for a XFS filesystem?

EDIT #3: Checked my Macs they both have firmware 114P (current version is 119P) and I think when I got them they where 115P as I went back one version. They are both ARS-2000SUP . the version I tried was ARS-2160H - so I had a SATA SSD, brisged to 80pin SCA, then going through a 80pin-SCA to 50pin ...
