Re: Cool (open source) software you would like to see ported...

Speaking of MIDI, is there any decent lightweight general-purpose sequencer application for *nix that could run on IRIX? I took a look around at stuff in the Debian repositories during my last Linux experiment and it seems like everything there is either a full-scale Sibelius-style sheet-music nota...

Re: Re:

This is a Wintel PCI card right? Weren't these things popular back when they first started putting DVDs into PCs (97-98 )? Helped to smooth out playback on the older CPUs? Not sure but i remember something along those lines. Also, remember some ISA cards for DOS back in '93 to help accelerate MPEG1...

Re: Video of early 3D Studio for DOS prototype

I spent hours and hours upon days and days in this app from 1992 to about 1996. I actually still miss it and occasionally fire it up from time to time. Still have my original discs and dongle. Ahh nostalgia... :)

Re: PRISMS (Houdini's predecessor)

eMGee, would you (or anyone else here) happen to know the "operating" years of Prisms (i.e. when was it first released and what was the date of the last release)?

Many Thanks

Re: PRISMS (Houdini's predecessor)

Responding to this post a few months late, but i have wondered about Prisms as well, for quite some time. It's very difficult to find any info on Prisms, it's hard to even find a mention of it. I have an obsession with old 3D apps (i'd kill for an IRIX copy of Animation Master / Playmation). If my m...

Re: odd Indigo issue

BINGO.... a quick session with minicom and the "resetenv" command and now all is well. Not sure what kind of oddness happened to cause this, but resetting the prom settings fixed it right up. Thanks guys, K Sorry to reply to my own post, but it looks like i spoke too soon. After i ran res...

Re: odd Indigo issue

Given that the symptoms are repeatable and that the buttons actually work within certain portions of the OS, i feel somewhat assured that this is not a hardware issue but they don't work before the os is loaded you say... could be the prom or something. have you tried resetenv then? BINGO.... a qui...

Re: odd Indigo issue

plugging a ps2 mouse into an indigo is kinda like plugging your fingers into an AC outlet. I assure all that no PS/2 devices have been plugged up here. Given that the symptoms are repeatable and that the buttons actually work within certain portions of the OS, i feel somewhat assured that this is n...

Re: odd Indigo issue

Just out of intrest what happens when you plug in a mouse via a usb/ps2 connector ( If you have one) is it the same problem? I'm a bit confused as to what you mean here.... all IRIS Indigos use a proprietary mouse and keyboard. There are no PS/2 or USB connections on the machine. K My apologies I a...

Re: odd Indigo issue

Have you tried changing the mouse modes systunepcmouse_mode0 Was that an option under IRIX 4.0.5? I was under the impression that that stuff came along much later. In either event, is that system wide or session specific (i.e. i would have to issue the command via serial console as i can't get to a...
