Re: Want to replace my old CRT with a modern TFT - suggestio

The 19" Sony SDM-S93 I bought from eBay finally arrived today, thanks for the suggestion of the Sony. Aside from three hardly-noticeable bruises to the screen it appears to work very well with the O2 (1280x1024 - 75Hz), though it can't match a CRT for smooth graphics animation this isn't what I...

Re: Help! Can't mount an IRIX share on my iMac

Tried it with and without. This appeared in the Console: 24/04/2010 15:27:33 com.apple.Finder[86] mount_nfs: can't access /usr/people/jlm/share: Permission denied The permissions for that share are drwxrwxrwx, it is listed in /etc/exports as /usr/people/jlm/share/ -nohide

Re: iMac thoughts?

One thing I find a little disappointing is the vertical grey shimmer the LCD screen has, something which seems to be common to all LCD displays. Apple make a big thing about the side-to-side viewing angles, but say nothing about the vertical viewing angle; I find that the bottom two corners have a n...

Help! Can't mount an IRIX share on my iMac

I've tried NFS Manager and IRIXConnect, and OS X Connect to Server, but nothing seems to work. I have a couple of shares on my O2 which always used to work (this is the first time I've tried mounting them on the iMac though), can't think that I've changed anything (they are listed in exports). Anybo...

Re: iMac thoughts?

I recently got the 27" i5 iMac, still adjusting to the hugeness of the screen! My previous iMac was a 17" CoreDuo, nice but at 17" I was forever running out of screen space, with the 27" I almost have to crane my neck to see the top menu bar! Yeah, I ran the "yellow tinge&qu...

Re: Want to replace my old CRT with a modern TFT - suggestio

[quote="ajerimez"]19" Sony SDM-X95F works quite well with my O2, supports sync-on-green, and has built-in speakers (helpful if you plan to use it with an Octane). It supports 1280x1024 and has very nice color quality. Has DVI and VGA inputs and a headphone jack, and the build quality ...

Re: Want to replace my old CRT with a modern TFT - suggestio

It is a V6, though I notice when I click on the 1920 x 1080 resolutions in the display properties it says I do not have enough memory for this setting, damn. I guess it's 1280 x 1024 or nothing then, unless 1600 x 1200 is a good format for general use (never used it myself) and would be supported by...

Re: Want to replace my old CRT with a modern TFT - suggestio

Resolution? If you Octane has V6 or V8 graphics you want to pay close attention to the resolutions supported by the TFT. The first generation VPro graphics suffer from a bug that prevents the use of a significant range of display resolutions. SGI's official list of display resolutions supported by ...

Want to replace my old CRT with a modern TFT - suggestions?

Hi, I have an O2 and Octane2 but I don't use them very often now, having moved to Macs for my main computing needs a few years ago. I actually have no need for the O2 at all now so that will be going. I'd really like to replace my aging GDM-5411 for a modern flat TFT that I can also use with my MacB...

SCSI Zip100 with SCSI I cable and gender changer [ebay UK]

I have this listed on HeBay UK at the moment, but if anyone wishes to make me an offer before Saturday 17th then I'll certainly consider it. Depends how the bidding is going
As usual, the PSU is good for 100-240v.

Oh yeah, the eBay item number is 310022257096. 8-)

xmame 0.70

I downloaded xmame 0.70 from your directory on nekochan but am finding it difficult getting it to run, I have a rom set in a directory but xmame keeps telling me it can't find the roms, even though all the files are present. Xmame also tells me it can't find the resource file in .xmame. I've tried l...

I'm one of many who is looking out for the inevitable WMV9 codec thing :S I want to convert to a more sensible format... I have VLC on the Mac but the conversion it produces f...

You have to use the "Send To Group" button to make it a part of the group photo pool, otherwise the photos just stay in your own user account photo pool.

Thanks for uploading!
