Re: your latest purchase

Also I found the fan cover... and fan cover clip... unfortunately not attached to each other... obviously...  Yeah, I dared to press the fan cover tab on mine whilst removing the fan cover recently. It snapped after the slightest bit of force. What was I thinking trying use to such a br...

Re: Video Card for Digital Personal Workstation

OpenVMS is most restrictive in terms of graphics support, followed by Tru64. So its probably best to start with the graphics cards mentioned in OpenVMS docs, then eliminate those that wont run on PWS (e.g. Oxygen VX1 would support all those OSes probably but is EV6 and higher only from what I've rea...

Re: Maplins.. GONE a sad day for the UK

No real surprise that its still open since the announcement... that's normal - just administrators trying to keep it operating for a limited time agreed with the court. In theory, for some potential buyers, an operating business with active leases, staff etc. might be more useful than an insolvent c...

Re: Indigo2 Purple Bag

Looks like it might have had another pad in the large compartment just a couple inches from the keboard/mouse/cable divider. It would have fit the presenter display. You could show up to your sales meeting with your Indigo2 IMPACT 10000, overhead projector, and Presenter1280 display....you'd be one...

Re: Happy Holidays :)

well then enlighten us, what's the correct one? Its perfectly obvious what is meant even when wrong. I just thought its funny how a mistake seems to propagate so much. When used in the context of the sentence above, Nollag changes to Nollaig, so Nollaig shona duit (or the regional variation Nollaig...

LOL. That incorrect Irish version seems to have appeared on a site somewhere at some stage and went viral. It now reappears all over the place every Christmas. Carlsberg even put it on their website one year.

In defiance of "official" warnings ###LINK REMOVED### 100% Positive Bewertungen, I am tempted to bid  Before you bid on that system, be sure to check out this system on eBay US listed at a reasonable bid level, and even with shipping outside the US it could work out a lot cheaper. ht...

Re: An item is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay... :)

But then, that's my point, ridiculous is in the eye of the beholder. :D One might think someone is crazy for buying a very famous painting for $20M, but if they then sell it on for $25, well then not so crazy. Or if the painting is in some way very meaningful to them, and they can afford it, then n...

Re: HP9000 C8000 noise

The c8000 was marketed as "whisper quiet", and there was a nice brochure that said joked it had "taken a vow of silence" http://www.alimartech.com/pdfs/hp_c8000_ds.pdf As UNIX workstations go its nice - quiet but still very powerful (2-4 cores, 32Gb max RAM, 4 x SCSI U320 disks, ...

Likewise, I mirrored a couple of ftp sites holding many cobalt ISOs and packages (tens of Gb). I should still have them on an external HD somewhere.
If you know the name of what ISO you are looking for, and Titox doesn't have it, send me a PM.

WTD: Assistance from Dutch person

Hi, I've found some parts (small, fairly light) I've been looking for a while now on a Dutch webshop. Unfortunately the company only ships to the Netherlands. If there is anyone with a Dutch address that would be willing to help by reshipping to me in Ireland please let me know.

MIPS sold

Just read today that Imagination Technologies (owner of MIPS) has been sold to Canyon Bridge (the Chinese private equity firm with government links). https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/sep/25/imagination-technologies-shares-canyon-bridge-takeover Not really a surprise since the loss of the Ap...

Re: Indy badges?

As mazzinia says, I think they probably used the custom R5k cover (#2) if they had it, and if not then they just worked with whatever parts they had in stock. During the summer I bought a spares/repair Indy. The model number is CMN B006T180, so a factory shipped 180MHz R5000 config, yet it has the R...

Re: [Sydney/AU] HP blade servers with 48Gb to 144Gb RAM per blade, EMC & Clarion SAN

Seriously, it has to go to a scrap metal dealer or someting soon. Don't know much about this hardware, but even if you have no takers for the system as a whole, the huge amounts of RAM would surely be worth putting on eBay? Especially if the modules are compatible with other servers, as HP RAM ofte...
