Re: IBM AS/400 OS/400 questions

I've got one of the horrible systems that connects over PPP. There's a twinax to RS232 cable I have, but .. the twinax cable is fed into a small embedded computer/chip that talks tcpip and enough smarts for iSeries Access software on the PC to talk to it. http://ns4.reboot.net.au/as400/os400.jpeg Th...

Re: What HP/DEC/Compaq do we have.

That's a nice setup. :) I should get some ram for the C3750 I have. It has an FX10. Mostly when I need to do some HP-UX work for work I just use the RP2470 or the A180C if I want to build hppa1.1e binaries. Less and less call for HP-UX both itanic and PA-RISC. So sad they murdered and didn't finish ...

Re: What HP/DEC/Compaq do we have. aka - Confessions of a DEC Tragic

Most of my VMS stuff I do on my TS10 (Rack mounted DS10e). Here it is with it's top off and Radoslav trying to get in on the action (Wouldn't be discouraged): http://forums.nekochan.net/download/file.php?mode=view&id=2830314 The ES40 is my "big hitter" when I need four processors .. wh...

Re: IBM AS/400 OS/400 questions

Yeah I know. It's got a red a**s. But yeah.. glad someone got the joke. :> I've got a -250 also but it's not used. Baboon when I first started installing would take a few days of disc juggling. Upgraded it to 868mb primary store and then it's all over and done with in 45mins. The -250 I think only h...

Re: Intergraph experience

My last intergraph was a 6800. It issued the HCF instruction and the resulting fire relegated it to the back veranda.

Sad. Was a pretty interesting system.

Re: Anyone running Linux on JS20?

Shouldn't be hard to run Linux or *BSD on them. They're *very* close to apple products. Lots of the chipset are licensed from apple. If I had to guess, given it's PowerPC_970FX's and the chipsets, I'd say they were based off the G5 XServe's. lscfg -vp displays the crimes: [..snip!..] Name: memory-co...

Re: IBM AS/400 OS/400 questions

I've got almost exactly the same machine and have installed the O/S a few times (took a long time to figure out how to get the console cable with the iSeries Access and win2000 laptop). Yep the disks are indeed 520bytes because as I understand how the Primary/Secondary storage works is it's a flat m...

Hi again Miod :)

Same. Tell you what.. I'll distract them whilst you make off with the RM200's and we'll sort it out and split the shipping later ;)

It'd be pretty interesting I'll admit. The chipset on them looks pretty Triton-II'esque with a pleasant CL fb.

Hi Miod, Sadly you're right. It's a pity your not local. I could sling the spare machine at you for fun. I'm going to wait till next payday and see if K-Tec (Purchased the R4k from them) gets back to me. They 'may' have some. Very friendly guys, but I didn't hear anything back after the last email. ...

Re: DECStation 5000 / [20,25,33] RAM

Hi Miod! long time. Thanks for the offer. Have to see .. I currently have I think is 4x2 + 8mb onboard. Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I picked up a R4000 from Zanchey in WA about 2001 and used it for many years. In '07 I gave away a stack of 5000's and have kicked myself since. I've since manag...
