Re: What pointless thing are you doing right now?

Hey Hombre, that's really pointless and truly anachronistic, I like that! So I guess you're running your VW320 with NT 4.0 or Windows 2k? If so, you might be interested in the pointless thing I'm doing right now: I'm coding a sleek, modern editor with syntax highlighting and decent search functions ...

This is what you want (my 164LX running Tru64): http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=16729421&p=7380536#p7380536 Sir, you are completely right! These stickers are a blast! Especially the big red sticker for the side panel! Do you still have some of these around to spare?

Re: A smear campaign against nekochan.net mods on reddit

It's entirely possible I missed something but as far as I know that makes you the only one of us who has actually met the man/the legend... 8-) Haven't smj and hakimoto also met with hamei? Everyone knows that hamei actually is a rogue AI. But... but.. that means, that Raion-Fox aka TeamBlack...

Re: What HP/DEC/Compaq do we have.

Greetings, DEC community, this is the pc164sx that showed up in "Hardware for Sale / Trade" a couple of weeks ago. I bought it from a nice guy in england, and got it shipped to germany in no time. The package contained the board with 21164PC @ 533 MHz and heat sink attached, the NT user ma...

Re: [ebay][uk] DEC AlphaPC 164SX

Thank you! That thing is *so* cool! It actually is my third Alpha: I already have an AXPpci with 166MHz 21066 in an old Atari PC case, which runs great, yet slow. I run it occasionally to compile stuff and fool around. The second board is an AlphaPC 164, which probably has some heat issues (since th...

Re: [ebay][uk] DEC AlphaPC 164SX

Ok, the set arrived today, and it runs perfectly!

512MB SD RAM, a new CR2032, a NVRAM reset, and it installs Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition.

By the way, the installed Alpha is 533MHz, in case anybody is wondering.

I got it! And it will be up and running again in no time (if it actually works, that is). ;-)

One of the good things of Brexit is, that the stuff from th UK is now much more affordable for us continental europeans. That helped a lot in this case.

Re: Bug in Nekoware gcc-4.7 stdc++

Hi rosehillbob, I had similiar problems when compiling my crap with -std=c++11, with various stuff being undefined in cmath and elsewhere. That might have to do with the header files coming from the Development Foundation not being C99 (while the C std lib is C99), and C++11 requiring C99... Some re...

Re: Fuel not powering on

Thank you for clarifying that, I wasn't sure if the l1 was actually active even when the fuel is powered down. I tried that already, however, since I thought if the switch was broken, I could probably power it up with the l1 command. But no response on the serial line, with the exact same settings I...

Fuel not powering on

Hello everybody, I guess the power supply of my fuel (Sparkle) finally quit. :( It would not power on when the switch is pressed, and no echo on the serial line. The Machine used to power on after a few attempts, but now it is completely dead. Could still be the power switch, but IIRC the l1 should ...

Indigo Keyboard on PS/2 System?

Hi everybody, I have an Indigo non-PS/2 keyboard and mouse, which belonged to a dead Onyx. The keyboard itself is a real beauty, and it's a shame that it's not used any more. Is there any chance of using it with a standard PS/2 computer? I only found an adapter that lets you use an Indigo with a PS/...

Re: FS : Onyx2 Deskside (Rackmount) quad 195, 1GB, IR2

Hi dargent, is this sweet machine still available? The temptation to buy it is very high, although I have not the slightest clue how to get it to southern germany... Maybe a weekend trip with wife to holland to pick it up? After all, this finally IS an affordable Onyx 2 on the same continent! ;) Reg...

Qt 4.5 on IRIX

Hello everybody, last weekend I tried to compile Qt 4.5 X11 on IRIX 6.5.28 (with gcc 4.3 from nekoware) and... ...it failed! Not the compile, but when linking something with the resulting libs, ld32 gives lots of "definition ... of ... in ... preempts that definition in ..." warnings and t...

I think you probably mean the 16, 16+16, 32, 32+32 thing, yeah? Yes, that's what I meant. In which case, these are set in the Display Properties thing, ie xsetmon. You can't set them per-program. Aha, mystery solved. The funny part is that "OpenGL on Silicon Graphics Systems" states that these conf...
